Ian, those are some good and valid observations that you highlighted.

In the Mid Week CC, there are no call outs at all. It is the 2 front riders that own the groups safety during the ride. There is a trust that they will choose the safest line, regardless of the road or the road conditions, the rest of the group follows their lead. If there was a pothole, you go through it, you don’t swerve around it, as that move could cause an incident.

The 2x2 is the safest formation, as well as the most efficient energy savings for the group, as long as the group is riding tight.

As a club, we should be talking more about these topics, as it fosters learnings and improvements.

Finally, I totally agree that a club ride should for the most part be a safe and relaxed ride, with a little work added in here and there. To help make this happen, it’s imperative that we all pick the group that is within our capabilities.

Hey fellow riders,a couple of things on a recent ride .First off the Club has been great for my recovery from an accident,Thank You.
A Club ride ,to me should be a relaxing enjoyable event with some work thrown in.I don't understand why every imperfection in the road needs to be alerted with"HOLE",if it's not going to damage our wheels ,go over it,don't swerve and please don't break! When we ride,we start nicely 2x2 then 5km in it becomes a long line of individuals. If safety is a concern,2x2 is better visually ,unless we are on a high speed limit road, switching back and forth from single to double only leads to crashes.
We blew thru three stop signs on Carnworth at 30+,safety is not a concern!People over the yellow line, crazy. Also why do we need to now of oncoming cars,we should be on our side of the road(not parked )
My opinion, not preaching, just looking for safe rides.
Be aware out there

Great to see everyone out at the Memorial ride today. It means so much to remember those who have fallen from our membership. Hopefully some nicer weather will come soon.

Hi,

New to the club and don’t feel comfortable posting rides just yet. I’m looking to do the Simcoe Loop this Saturday. About 160k mixed gravel, road, asphalt bike trails. If there’s anyone willing to join that would be great. Start in Barrie at 9am and about a 23-25 km/hr pace.

Hi,

This will be my second year with club, I am trying to renew my membership and all I can find is a form to register new members.

I am a little confused on this, if someone could please guide me on this.

Great ride yesterday. I have not been in the improved waterfront trail for years. A good route to get from Newcastle to Courtice and Oshawa while staying South of the 401.

Great group for Bike for Health on Sunday. A little soggy for most of the 100 km but we stuck together as a group the whole way. Good showing from DCC!
